Fort Leavenworth FMWR

The Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility will open its doors for a special Pet Adoption Day on Saturday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Come along and you will meet a lot of wonderful fury friends (mainly cats and dogs) who are hoping to find a new home.

The Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility, inside the post veterinary clinic, is at 831 McClellan Ave., Fort Leavenworth, KS 66027. The clinic is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays.

The Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility houses animals available for ADOPTION: stray dogs and cats (primarily) turned in by Housing and relinquished pets turned in by VTF-authorized users. The VTF primarily serves active-duty military, reserves and retirees, but military affiliation is not necessary to adopt a pet from the stray facility.

Directions: From the Main Gate at Metropolitan and 7th St. in Leavenworth, continue on Grant Avenue until the road veers left in front of the old U.S. Disciplinary Barracks, at which point the road becomes McPherson Ave.Turn right onto McClellan Avenue at the four-way stop. The Stray Facility is three blocks down on the left. Look for the Fort Leavenworth Veterinary Treatment Facility sign, and come in that door.
